Thesis Project featured in 2008 ITP Spring Show
Loyalty was an interactive artwork that expressed the human experience by incorporating art with technology. The theme of this= artwork was inspired by the story of the Gentian Flower also known as the "Loyalty Flower." The participant actively engaged with the artwork to express the concept of loyalty.

There were 8 flowers created for the project. 7 of the flowers easily interact with users who approached or touched them. However, the largest flower in the middle refused to interact with any user. Only when the user engaged in a particular gesture recognized by this flower did it finally react to the user.

The objective of this interactive artwork was to show expression through the use of light, sound, and movement. The ultimate goal of this project was for the user to take a step further in experiencing the concept of loyalty by having the user truly understand the meaning of loyalty by becoming a necessary component of the artwork.able distance, a flower would open its petals beautifully (an expression of happiness). At the same time, the rest of the flowers reacted differently by blinking their lights (an expression of anger), dimming their lights (an expression of sadness), or making their lights brighter (an expression of jealousy). These different reactions from multiple flowers mirrored common human emotions.
